Samhain, meaning “summer’s end” is celebrated in the Northern Hemisphere on the 31st of October as the last hurrah before winter’s arrival. In more recent times, it has been known as Halloween, All Hallows Eve and the Day of the Dead. It is believed that on this night, the veil between the world of the living and the dead is at its thinnest and is a night to honour deceased loved ones.
