The Mirror’s Image
400mm x 400mm
Collage on wood
2013
This visually stunning piece is comprised of layer upon layer of triangular segments, built up to compose a complex geometric pattern.
All of the pieces used are hand cut from the pages of glossy fashion and pop culture magazines, and each individual piece consists of a fragment of the face of a model or fashion icon.
The pieces are then organised against a colour scale and these hundreds of pieces are then used to construct the overall geometric pattern.
Viewing the piece from a distance, the work appears to be present a three dimensional plane of pyramid-like shapes, but closer inspection reveals the complexity of the design.
In 2013, this piece was part of a collection of works that were featured on The 22 Magazine’s blog. Later, in 2016, it was included in the Some Assembly Required Exhibition that took place at Gallery ONE88 in Katoomba.
